I have been working with a woman diagnosed with PCOS, who started Reglan
10 mg TID, at 3 weeks postpartum when the usual techniques of building
milk supply did not work. Within 5 days of starting the medication she had
spiraled into an agitated and weepy condition, perhaps exacerbated by the
fact that the baby had an adverse reaction to the medication, which
included sleeplessness and vomiting.
Has anyone found that women with PCOS are more susceptible to postpartum
depression or the CNS side effects of Reglan, due to their already
existing hormonal imbalances.
Thanks,
Kathy Lilleskov RN IBCLC
