Brenda and Karen: I would suggest, Brenda, that you involve your Human
Resources department right from the start. It would be to your benefit to
also have an HR representative present when you meet with the supervisor.
This person is supposed to represent a neutral 3rd party at what I think is
referred to as mediation. The HR rep is responsible for keeping everyone
focused and on track to prevent the meeting from degenerating into an
emotional possibly further name-calling "mess".
Keep us posted, as I think similar situations have occurred to all of us in
hospital practice at least once. I'm surprised that it's taken 10 years
for this to happen to you!
Good luck!
A positive occurence last night in my lactation life. I was at Menard's
last night, which is a chain of hardware/home improvement stores in the
USA. As I was getting into my car in the parking lot with my 2 pre-teen
daughters, a man was getting into the huge extended-bed black SUV next to
me. He called over: "I like your license plate!" (LACTATE). I thanked
him and asked him if he knew what it meant. "Oh, yeah! And I'm all for
it!" Made my day!
