Perhaps the book you are referring to is Adventures in Tandem Nursing, published by LLLI. My heart goes out to this mother. Sometimes, mama's supply will be dramaticlaly reduced at this point in the pregnancy. Many of the herbs reccomended to stimulate milk supply are contraindicated during pregnancy. I'm not happy with that, but it is how it is :(.
The most imporant thing is to FEED THE BABY. Mother may not be happy with this, but the baby may require some sort of supplimentation for the duration of the pregnancy. Refusing to supplimet may result in a hungry, cranky baby who will refuse the breast from this point on.
I was very fortunate that my milk supply did not diminish while pregnant (my son was 14 months old when I became pregnant). Because of my experience with tandem nursing, I recieve many helping calls from mother with pregnancy supply issues. Sometimes, the mother needs to suppliment with formula to keep the baby nourished until the secomd child is delivered. As much as I hate to reccomend supplimentation, this MAY be a time when it is warranted.
The availabilty of breastmilk during pregnancy does not seem to be regulated by the mother's level of dedication, unfortunately. :(

Subject: Re: dietary suggestions
Mom of 8 month old nursling is 3 months pregnant and milk supply is
decreasing. Baby has started some solids. Baby is refusing to nurse at times. What
are some suggestions for food besides avocado and sweet potatoes. What
besides water can she drink? Baby is sensitive to milk. I know there is some
information in a book out there, but can't seem to find it. Thank you in
advance.
