I have two thoughts on this subject:

1) Candida can present as red, itchy, burning bumps.  I wonder if the rash
would respond to topic treatment with an antifungal.

2) Personally, my skin is sensitive to the baby's saliva.  I wonder if she
would have developed the rash if she rinsed the skin with clean water
after the nursing.  Or if doing that would speed resolution of the current
rash.
