Hello all,
I am so glad to be back to Lactnet. Have missed you all so much. I have
been reading the posts and getting myself refamilarized with the names I
remember, and the new ones who have joined since I left.
I have gained a new position. I am very excited. I am now the Early
Headstart Health Resource Specialist for our county office of education. In this
new position, I will be able to offer lactation assistance to many new moms
while pregnant and post partum. I have a very supportive supervisor who is
welcoming of breastfeeding and increasing the breastfeeding rates in our tiny
county. From what I have gathered from the records of the previous HRS,
breastfeeding support was at a minimum. I look forward to changing this. As I
explained during my interview, this will be my focus. Of course all areas of
health and wellness to the pregnant mother and to her newborn child will be
met, but as we all know, if we can support her and help her feed her child with
nature's normal and perfect food if at all possible. My commitment is
strong. I will be looking to you to help me along the way. I am also hoping that
within this new position, lies the path toward sitting for the IBCLC exam so
that I may be able to fully serve my community.
Any advise or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated and revered.
Thank you
Renee Drake RN CLC
Early Headstart Health Resource Specialist
California
"If we could look into each other’s hearts and understand the unique
challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently,
with more love, patience, tolerance, and care".
Marvin J. Ashton
“Motherhood is the greatest potential influence either for good or ill in
human life. The mother's image is the first that stamps itself on the unwritten
page of the young child's mind. It is her caress that first awakens a sense
of security; her kiss, the first realization of affection; her sympathy and
tenderness, the first assurance that there is love in the world.”
David O. McKay
