We live in the area where Dupont makes Teflon. One of the byproducts is C8.
Some of you may have heard of it. It is infiltrating our drinking water, and
a lot of $$ have been spent researching the C8 levels in the bloodstream.
There is a lot of political hoo-hah about whether or not C8 is a problem in
the bloodstream, but we've been told to stop drinking the local water,
regardless.

Yesterday, I was contacted by a doctor doing research on C8 in human milk.
She has been unable to get many breastmilk samples, and would like me to ask
the mothers in my contact area to donate. I have some deep issues regarding
this request. First, of course, is the issue of asking mothers to donate...
I've contacted
the PL department in my LLL Area, so they can help us figure out that issue.

Secondly, if they discover C8 in human milk (which they probably will,
because it is unlikely to have a chemical composition or molecular size
which would prevent entry into milk) where do we go with this information?
This researcher assures me <<Our published position, and the position of the
Ohio Department of Health as well as the federal government, is that human
breast milk is superior to formula even under these circumstances>> That is
a relief, however, how will the media take this information, and run with
it? How many news articles, bulletins and physician contacts will be made
and how does one hold back a trickle which has the potential of turning into
a flood?

Thirdly, if they discover C8 in human milk, why are we not testing newborns
for prenatal transmission? What is the impact of a child who was exposed as
a fetus?

And fourthly (I won't say lastly, because surely there are more concerns
which have not entered my thought process) this is a huge dairy area. If C8
can contaminate human milk, it is certainly contaminating cow milk, and what
is the repercussion of humans ingesting C8 through the dairy products?

Just some thoughts from my little corner of Ohio, while I watch the trail of
hundreds of Model Ts and Model As drive through the countryside, right past
my house!

Best wishes,
