I've had success with using a nipple shield in several infants with
mandibular asymmetry and torticollis. One baby was able to do well with
just the shield, a few others required supplements of pumped milk as
well until they unkinked. Physical therapy is effective for this
condition, and careful monitoring of baby's intake is needed until the
baby begins regaining weight.
Sometimes babies with torticollis latch better with their heads rotated
to the preferred side rather than the neat alignment we usually prefer.
