Someone asked whether Prolacta would be considered a Code-compliant company.
When the Code was drafted in the late 1970's, it was meant to deal with the
marketing of breastmilk substitutes and bottles and teats, to consumers. It
is a complex document which it behooves anyone working with mothers and
babies to be familiar with, even in a country that hasn't ratified it (yet).
In fact, especially in such a country.
Only by reading the Code itself, what its intent is, and what it covers, can
you determine whether a given company complies with it, or even whether the
Code applies to its activities. It is on line at Baby Milk Action's
website, http://www.babymilkaction.org/regs/thecode.html
