The anesthesiologists and surgeons where I work have been telling
breastfeeding moms, who have surgery with general anesthesia, that they need
to pump and dump for 12 - 24 hours after surgery. Now they have asked the
LC's to provide them with a handout for breastfeeding moms - pre-op and
post-op. This is a great opportunity to give them the info and references
to support early breastfeeding after surgery.
Does anyone have handouts that they can share? Does your institution have
pre- and post-op instructions that address breastfeeding?
Please let me know and I can send you my snail mail address if necessary.
