What is the current recommendation for the safest prescription medicine for
a breastfeeding mom with adult Attention Deficit Disorder? The mom waited
until first baby was one year old before starting Strattera (L4 in 2004
MMM), which unlike most other ADHD/ADD meds is not a stimulant. She d/c'd
Strattera when got pregnant again, now this baby is 2 months old. The most
recent MMM I have is 11th ed. (2004), "no data available on transfer...into
human milk."
Mom found an herbal "natural remedy" called Focus ADDult, its ingrediants
are Centella asiatica, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary), and Panax Ginseng
and is wondering about it instead of the Strattera. I don't know anything
about herbals.
Any info or thoughts on either (or any other ADD meds)?
Thanks, Vicki Hayes RN IBCLC in WA
