I have found in my new babes at the hospital that side by side does not keep
up their temp like direct skin to skin so we do have blankets, etc added onto
them but I have mom maintain as much skin to skin as possible by curling up,
etc. Most moms are not comfy sleeping like that with their baby (nor are the
nurses that check them i might add) so it typically does not last long. She is a
little older so you might have better results, can she keep her next to her in
the crook of her arm as well as side by side as you would nursing? Good luck.
