Yeast is part of all our makeup, how it stays balanced is what is at issue.
Yeast lives in our GI tracts and can spread out systemically. When one gets
run down or takes antibiotics the normal flora of the gut cannot control the
growth of the yeast. This is when people get symptoms. That is part of the
theory behind taking acidophyllis and or garlic while on antibiotics to help
protect the gut flora.
When one is treating for yeast over growth or thrush, the yeast is not being
killed but growth is slowed back to normal. No one should think that all
the yeast will be gone. Also, ingesting food with yeast such as breast milk
should not be an issue. We cannot make our diets yeast free.
I totally agree that some nipple yeast problems and the same with some
yeasty diaper rashes develop into something more and therefore need more extensive
treatment possibly from a dermatologist.
