I just thought I'd provide an update on this case...the nipple cracks are
resolved. Thank you everyone for your replies. It was the banana. :-) I
had suggested to the mom already that she might be allergic to the food her
daughter was eating, and she kind of poo-poo-ed me since her other 3 had had
that same food to begin with, but i think hearing that other *professionals*
said the same thing might have convinced her...she eliminated banana and her
nipples cleared up almost instantly (within days). I reminded her that
bananas have latex in them and that it might be that that she was reacting
to and maybe she should be wary around latex...and she said "well I already
know I'm allergic to latex"! D'oh!
