While working in maternity department in hospitals for many years, have heard watermelon, sun tea and skim milk advised as ways to help reduce edema for pregnant and postpartum ladies. May seem old fashioned, but seemed to work very well.

I have seen quite a few women with edema to their feet and ankles who had a
delay in onset of lactogenesis II. Once swelling went down, supply started
increasing. If the edema is severe some doctors would prescribe lasix (L-3),
or she can take natural diuretics. I heard somewhere that watermelon is a
natural diuretic. Anyone else heard that?
Anyway, just a thought.
