One of our patients had a severe postpartum bleed and the midwives are  
trying to determine what can be done to support her.  Her hemotocrit and  
hemoglobin levels are quite low. There is concern about her milk supply.
 
Does any one know about the use of erythpoietin in a breastfeeding  mother?  
I found one article that was a study using it in VLBW  infants as an IM 
injection, but no indication if it's safe to use with  breastfeeding. 
 
Many are reluctant to have transfusions with AIDS so the staff is trying  get 
information to make a decision.
