Hello,
I am very new at working in the hospital mom/baby unit and am very excited about having this opportunity, but am also realizing how much I have to learn. I have been struggling somewhat with how to position these new babies while mom is in a hospital bed. I am sure that many of you also have troubles with this. So the question that keeps popping in my head is: Why is this mom in this *$#@#* bed anyway, she isn't sick! Do any of you have nice love seats in your rooms where the mom can mom sit and comfortably position the baby, which will be more like she will do it at home? Also, do you have little tables and chairs where she can eat like a human being? Are these questions even relevant to bf support in the hospital? I would love to hear any of your ideas.
TIA to all,
Merilee CLC, RN
