TV land has exploited breastfeeding once again. At first, I thought they
were showing longterm breastfeeding positively but then I was not to be
pleasantly surprised. A lawyer was hired and told the character played by
Felicity Huffman ( I think), she could not breastfeed comfortably in her
last job. So Linette (Felicity) hired her and then found out the child was
5 years old. The mother said it was her "Weight loss" means as she was
eating donuts. Linette was picked by the other lawyers to tell her they
were uncomfortable with the situation. Linette told the mom and the mom
pointed out breastfeeding was associtated with strengthening the immune
system(good),perfect nutrition(good), bonding with her son(good), many
children in the world are breastfed until six. Then Felicity went behind
the mother's knowledge when the boy came to her looking for his mother
because he was thirsty, and gave him chocolate milk(bad). The boy then
didn't want to nurse anymore, and the mother started crying because now
she would have to go to the gym for her weight loss control (unbelievable.)
The show was then discussed on the View today as someone has pointed
out, that they couln't believe anyone would nurse that long and that it
doesn't help weight loss, well not the short time the shows hosts nurse.
These shows tell half truths and show breastfeeding in a bad light, and
deserve to be really told off. I happen to be watching too much TV the
last few days!
