I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about this situation. A mom in my
support group reports that over the last 4 evenings from 7PM-PM her 6 week old
baby has been very fussy, but refuses to eat. During this time she appears to
be gagging (making gagging noises) and gags if either breast or finger is
placed in her mouth. After this two hour period she resumes breastfeeding
normally. Mom has an ample milk supply and baby has been gaining about 2 oz. per
day. I have watched her breastfeed each week at support group and baby handles
flow well and is very mellow. Mom has persistent sore nipples which have
responded somewhat to topical yeast tx.--no signs of thrush in baby. This is a
by the way--I don't think it is related to what is happening each evening.
Any ideas? Please send replies privately as well as to the list.
