This year's keynote speaker was Jack Newman, who we all know is a wonderful
presenter. Several times over the course of the day, he referred back to
finger feeding as a transition to the breast (as opposed to an alternative to
the bottle).

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with a baby who was
fingerfeeding for a while( frenotomy of posterior tongue tie delayed to one month) and
then seemed to connect feeding with only the hard, though warm/human finger and
seemed to have no interest/recognition to actually work with a soft "thing"
like the breast, despite fingerfeeding with baby's face against the breast as
much as possible. Baby has only latched once or twice and very briefly with
no milk transfer, and cries til the finger comes, even if it has no FF
'attached'. I am actually thinking of working with paced bottlefeeding with a soft,
slow flow nipple as an attempt to transition to the breast.( Baby has
rejected breast with nipple shield as well. Nipple is so big, and with 24 mm
shield, just seems too much for the baby to deal with. Mom has twice as much milk
as anyone needs, and has tried prepumping to soften, leaving milk there to
firm, etc.)
Weird? Make sense?
