I am curious as to whether anyone has considered the impact on a baby
whose mother is actively pumping to donate to a milk bank?

Dear Friends:
Anecdotal report of two situations: a mother who pumped every day for a
year to give some human milk to a friend diagnosed with inflammatory breast
cancer at 28 weeks gestations. (The donating mother was screened by history
and blood tests before donating.) She reported that her own baby got very
protective of the other breast while she was pumping, and would sometimes try to
block the flange with her hand. I have heard this from another mother as well.
I've never heard any reports of maternal breast problems. Mothers would
probably quit pumping if it turned into a problem, no?
    warmly,
