Nicola, If they haven't called you --- you call them. Keep notes on that
conversation or the attempts you make, messages you leave. It isn't the
mother's responsibility for follow up, it is the IBCLCs responsiblity
for follow up. I always try twice when leaving messages and not reaching
the mother. What I have found is most mothers will not initiate follow
up themselves so I tell moms I will call her back in two to three days
after the consultation. I do at least one follow up phone call. Should
this mother need another home visit, you could set the stage right up
front by saying no videotaping this time. If this is not acceptable to
mother, refer her to someone else.
