That's likely uric acid crystals from concentrated urine, and is a
completely normal finding in the first few days of life. Sad that the
pediatrician does not know this. Check out the archives, perhaps someone
has posted references you can share with him. You could also search
pubmed/medline and scholar.google.com for references.
