Every month, when I teach my hospital's Breastfeeding Class, part of every
presentation is what I label "Bumps in the Road." Regardless of the cause
of these unplanned events, I feel it is only fair to prepare the parents
in advance should they happen to encounter difficulties in the first few
days or weeks. It has been my personal experience (both in breastfeeding
class and in regular prepared childbirth classes as well)that those moms
and dads who are well prepared (for all kinds of scenarios) are far better
able to roll with the punches and stick with the rough times and ride
through them than are those who have not been informed.
