# My second child has a gap between her front teeth /---/ it HURTS
(when she gets the nipple tissue suctioned in the gap). #
Sorry, no answers, but I know what you mean :/ . My second child was
missing some of the upper front teeth for a long time - he had "first"
upper front teeth in the middle, then there was a gap on both sides
("second" ones), and then his upper corner teeth. I think he was about
2,5 yo when one of the missing teeth erupted, but the other "second"
one is still missing (he is 3,5 yo).
I never tried a nipple shield, but can't see why you couldn't try one
- if your toddler accepts it :)
Every time it hurt too bad, I asked him to let go and latch on again,
asked him to nurse for a shorted period etc. He is now asking to nurse
maybe only once a week very briefly so it doesn't bother that much. I
know it doesn't help you now, but by time it will get more tolerable.
You said you don't want to wean her, but perhaps a bit of limiting
either number of nursings or their lenght might be an option?
