Subject: Trial of Labor after Cesarean

HELLO! What about maternal PAIN after a c/s? How did that effect the
initiation and the early days of breastfeeding? And how did (potential) lack
of early and frequent breastfeeding affect the infants? Feeding methods and

maternal pain meds were not mentioned. I personally think a baby delivered
by c/s needs a lot of support for successful breastfeeding in

those first few days. I wonder if breastfeeding (or lack thereof) would be
considered in an assessment of neonatal morbidity. Hmm...I sure hope so!

Dear Trish,

First of all, I am obviously late in reading LN, but I wanted to chime
in with something that may not even be "on topic".

This weekend I received a f/u message from a doula that had been trying
any and all methods of getting a mom into labor "naturally". Her message
read that mom would be sectioned on Monday...the reason the physicians gave
her was that a C/S was safer than "risking a fourth degree tear!!!!!"

How do you think that will effect mom & babe? Ridiculous huh, major
surgery vs. 4th degree tear!
