1/2% gentian violet continues to be my preferred method of treating yeast. 
Nystatin is often worthless.  Would apply once a day to entire nipple/areola 
(and beyond if involved) for 5 days and baby's moouth for 3 days.  (Since 
baby is older, could use 1% if that is all that is available)  Deep breast 
pain often resolves when nipples are adequately treated.
