Joan mentioned an 18-year-old mother who: "Even when holding her baby she
seemed to be focusing on the music in the background."
She later mentions how the parenting (and breast milk production) improved
with skin to skin and time...
That is another "difficult to measure" outcome of our work! The "falling in
love" with your baby is sometimes not as beautiful and immediate as
delivering and looking at your baby and feeling love throughout your whole
being...in fact for many, including me, it was a slow, frequent-contact,
delayed development.
When there is no skin to skin and no breastfeeding, how much more difficult
is this to accomplish?

CONGRATULATIONS to our Listmothers! Lactnet is a fantastic source of
information and resources - and keeps those of us who have been IBCLCs a
LONG time from getting too "set in our ways." New information, new blood
and new ideas keep me thinking and re-thinking my style of practice! THANKS
for your hard work!
