I was asked by the agency here that coordinates the case management, education and support to pregnant women if I knew of a flyer that addressed the issues of breastfeeding and the use of drugs - methamphetamine and cocaine were the ones mentioned.
I explained that I usually talk to a mom and show her the information in Hale about each of the drugs she has been reported to have used (often they deny any CURRENT use, so I just say "well, let's say if you used xxxx this weekend - here are some of the risks to your baby ....").
However, the staff that would be sharing this information would not be IBCLCs or even nurses.
Any ideas/suggestions?
