Betsey from Connecticut has different experiences than I do.
When I worked for a rural Health Department, I had to do some
investigation for CPS, as I was a Public Health Nurse and out in the field all the time.
Folks would often call, having sicced CPS on neighbors as a spiteful
move.
I can't tell you how awful it feels to show up on a good parent's
doorstep and have to go through some awful paperwork. I would explain what I had to
do, and give them the paperwork to fill out themselves as I could see from
their children's behavior that this was a loving home. And yet, they had to be
investigated because a complaint had been called in.
