I am due to see a 5 week old baby tomorrow who suffered birth asphyxia
and has extensive neurological impairment. I first met this baby at 2
weeks of age and assisted with the first breastfeed which was
successful.
His motor development has deteriorated and he is a difficult feeder.
He has some of his feeds via a haberman feeder and eventually he will be
tube fed I'm sure. Meanwhile, his mother wants to continue
breastfeeding as long as possible.
Any pearls of wisdom out there. I am currently doing a search online
but would love to hear from anyone who has some experience of this.
