RE: LC pay scale/burnout/etc.
Does your facility donate to La Leche League?
I sometimes read about hospital based lactation programs that give La Leche
League's phone number "as a second reference" as LuAnn mentioned, and
sometimes it's actually as "back-up" for those hours when the hospital
lactation consultants are not covering shifts, as has also been discussed.
I have seen this in my community. The hospitals give La Leche League phone
numbers for those weekend and night times when no one is available- after
all, League Leaders take calls from their homes! But those same
institutions never seem to manage a donation during World Breastfeeding
Week, or any other time, for that matter.
If your facility relies on La Leche League Leaders for back-up, do they also
make their appreciation known by supporting the organization with funds?
Just curious, what with World Breastfeeding Week right around the corner.....
