Dearest Ones, I am a LLL Leader, a WIC Breastfeeding
Coordinator and the proud mom of a sixteen-year-old
daughter. I usually only lurk but I can't resist this
one. Jaye wrote Friday about a mom:
>Nipples are more pink than areola - one nipple looks
>almost purple - BOTH have little white dots on the
>face of the nipple (one more so than the other) -
>the white dots look like they are under the surface
>of the skin with a pink haze over them.
It IS very odd that the pain is reported to be worse
in the morning only. Yeast comes to mind because of
the "shooting" nature of the pain but what jumped out
at me were those "dots...with a pink haze". That
sounds like milk blisters or blebs to me. They are
*unbelievably* painful, with shooting pain at first
and throbbing for hours. It really does not make
sense, but all of the women with milk blebs that I've
worked with (myself included) have had the same
complaints. Just my two cents.
Respectfully,
Rowena Tucker IBCLC
Texas
