Greetings all
I am returning to lactnet after a long absence. I'm a L/D midwife in Perth, mother to 2.
Quick question. Does anybody know the comparitive half life in neonates of the various narcotics used in labour. My interest in this is how it affect breastfeeding initiation. The two narcotics I am interested in are Pethidine (Demerol I believe in the US) and Morphine, both of which we currently use as IM injections in labouring women.
