Oh my goodness!!! I am so sad after reading that!! I have implants and have
had them since before I had a baby. If only I knew then when I know now I
would never, never have gotten them. I talk to women I know who want to get
them and tell them I don't mean to sound hypocritical but I don't recommend
them. I get into the reasons for why, usually focusing on the physical look
of the breasts and then on the effects of breastfeeding. Yes, they look
GREAT for the first year or so---but then they are just like regular
breasts---they sag, get stretch marks, etc. and to top all that off you can
get rippling which becomes especially apparent after time when the implant
kills off the breast tissue that you do have, you can feel the bag, so on
and so forth. What women (my former self included) don't understand is the
women on TV and in magazines are covered in body make-up, perfectly
positioned, put in perfectly flattering lighting, and then airbrushed on top
of it.

Really my breasts are no more or less perfect than they were pre-surgery
(just bigger) but I love them now more than ever because my daughter has
nursed for 22 months and SHE loves them! I figure if becoming a mommy,
learning to deal with all the body changes that pregnancy alone brings, and
nursing can't make you love your body (breasts included) surgery sure as
heck won't!!! ---Christina, LLLL, Broward County, FL
