The best resource for the WIC Peer Counselor Training program can be found
at the website for Loving Support Best Start which you can find by
"googling" it. It explains the training program and all of the ins andouts
of having a peer counselor program. Personally, I find having Peer
Counselors at our WIC Office is a tremendous asset and has a very positive
effect on bf outcomes and moms'satisfaction with bf experiences. The Peer
Counselors can give the ongoing support and culturally approprite support
moms need, which we, as Nutritionists, find next t impossible to do for
everyone, because we are so busy with our other work responsibilities. Not
to mention how much we all learn from each other in the office. I love
having the Peers!

Re the TV movie about the Stolpas and their bf baby : I too remember hearing
about them a few years ago BEFORE the movie came out. I remember feeling so
HAPPY that the news reported the baby survuved BECAUSE he was bf, and
probably would've died without that. I didn't see the movie. How sad to hear
they wrecked the story! (but WE know the truth!)
