I write here first time. I am Nataliya Polizhak, breastfeeding supporter
from Makeevka, Ukraine. I am helping mothers for 1,5 years.
I have 3 children: boy - 7, girl - 4,5, boy 2,5 years old. I had failure
experience with older two children. But now we enjoy of breastfeeding with
my younger boy at least.

I follow a difficult case for some time and I will be very grateful for
your input.
Mother first contacted me by phone. She had troubles with baby who often
refused to nurse and nursed in her awake only 4 times a day. When I have
seen them in person, mother was very tense and
nervous. She begged me do not suggest babymoon because she tried it for
several weeks and they were still miserable.
It was happen when the baby was 4 months old. Now she is 6 months.
When I spend some
time with her, she told me that another person suggested that baby had
such a reaction
to her because the little one perceives her as a "bad mother". I was
shoñked. I constantly reassured her that she is a really good
mother because she works so hard to preserve their breastfeeding
relationship. When I observed their feeding (it was very difficult
task because the girl requests complete privacy even the father
has to go away from the room), I noticed that the mom had a
really strong let-down and baby was uncomfortable with it. I think this was
the main cause of baby's breast refusal behavior. I suggested to
mother to
- try different nursing positions (the little one was breastfed only
lying on side);
- provide skin-to-skin as much as possible during the day;
- turn her attention on her diet, using vitamins, drugs.

The frequent breastfeeding, the offering the breast before the girl is
fully awake or in her sleep didn't work for this couple because the
baby refused to nurse and wished to breastfeed only in her awake.

I used BAB 97 when tried to find as much causes as possible. I know
that situation became stronger after vaccinations, visitors, etc.
And for some time things seemed better. After the warm baths with
mother in the evening the girl. She began nursing more often - 9 times
a day. But now it is not work.
And one moment else when I was out of town for 5 days one week ago, things
went bad again.
It seems that mother needed me constantly as her source of support. She
wrote me an angry email when I
returned. And today she made excuses.
Baby seemed to completely refuse to nurse and do not wanted her expressed
milk from a cup, spoon or syringe. She eats some solids but not much.
According to mothers words the baby also do not wants her milk mixed with
solids.
Can it be some case of allergic reaction to something mother eats? May be
she can try to feed her baby expressed milk from a bottle for some time?
