Wow. Thank you for this! I have been stressing my brain trying to figure
out what it is that is making so many babies completely clueless. I keep
thinking how many babies are needing help to do what they better do if they want
to live....eat!! I have been doing this for 15 years, not as much as many,
but enough to have seen a drastic change in what I am working with.
This makes perfect sense to me and maybe now my brain can go back to trying
to understand why I am seeing so many tongue ties!
One thing I was considering was that so many babies spend so much time on
their backs, so the gravity factor is not helping get their tongues forward. I
started thinking this since the posts responding to my search for help
getting a couple of babies to use their tongues. Now I have mothers give babies
tummy time -- skin to skin tummy time. Haha. I am definitely seeing a
difference.
The ultrasound research needs to be explored and quickly because they are
offering them as fun things to do --- not even as a medical need, but something
you can do at a Baby Faire....not good if we find out there is even the
slightest possibility of damage.
Take care,
Pam MazzellaDiBosco, IBCLC, RLC
