Are you an IBCLC, Karleen? Sorry I can't remember! If yes, go to IBLCE
web site look for ethics. There is a FAQ section with questions about
such things. Also, in the IBCLICK! dated June 2003, Ann Calandro writes
about these company sponsorship issues, "Focus on the Code of Ethics."
She gives several things to consider, such as one's name or photo being
used by the company in marketing purposes. The disclaimer she talks
about is that the IBCLC says, "they have no association with this
company and that the information shared with the group is in no way
influenced by this company." My short paraphrase here doesn't do justice
to the whole article and I suggest you try to read it. Because the
disclaimer part is the smallest part of the whole two page article and
there are other things to consider that might be more important. Best to
you, Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC
