<I have a mom who delivered her second baby last night. With her previous
baby she had insufficient milk transfer as evidenced by dehydration and
next-to-nothing test weights. Her breasts are hypoplastic. She has no
symptoms of PCOS other than insufficient glandular tissue, and no
infertility problems. Her breasts are very small, flaccid, and did not
increase in size during either pregnancy or postnatally with the last baby.
She has been able to easily express colostrum with this pregnancy. She did
use Fenugreek and Reglan last time with no improvement and is considering
using Reglan and Fenugreek again if she sees no increase in volume in the
next few days. I'm not convinced these are the best choice for her. Would
she be a candidate for Metformin instead? What about Goat's Rue? Any info
you could provide on your experiences with either substance would be very
helpful. Also, anyone have any experience with moms taking Metformin during
pregnancy for PCOS?>
I was not aware that there was any connection of hypoplastic breasts with
PCOS.
From what I have read, I have assumed that these two conditions were
entirely unrelated to one another. If not, can someone give me some guidance
on the best references to update myself on what the connection is??
