The Baby-Friendly USA program indicates initation of breastfeeding within one hour of birth, whereas, the WHO version states 1/2 hour of birth.

I would greatly appreciate any information especially anyone can give me on
this
topic.
All NYC HHC hospitals will be receiving funding to facilitate efforts to
become Baby Friendly. I am having a meeting on tommorrow with
representatives from OB and other departments to draft Bellevue’s
proposal for utilization of this money.
In order for us to follow step 4: helping mothers to initiate
breastfeeding within ½ hour of birth we will have to start helping
those mothers that have caesarians breastfeed on the operating table.
We are not doing this and I need to find out which hospitals are so
that I can communicate with them and find out how. This is the
information I’ve been asked to find out in order to propose that we
set up the OR in our L&D to accommodate breastfeeding.
If anyone who has been present at a caesarian birth
where breastfeeding was
facilitated on the table could describe to me the
scenario and how it was done I would really appreciate it.
