The scoop with celiac is that bf promotes the growth of villi in the 
baby's intestines.  Celiac kills off villi.  So it appears that 
breastfed babies have a bit of a headstart (or artificially fed babies 
have a slimmer store) in the villi department, so they can stand to 
lose more and the disease takes longer to manifest.
