Hi~

A doula client, 2 weeks postpartum, has called me to report that her milk smells like a combination of onions and sweat - she called it the "New York City cab smell." She is not taking vitamins or other meds, is eating a totally bland diet with no onions, and even went off of Mother's Milk tea but the smell is still there. It is there whether she feeds directly from the breast or pumps (which she has been doing a bit of) and even her baby's face smells like it after feeding. Is this a normal variation?

Thanks,
Julie Rosen, LLLL, CD, PCD, LCCE
