OK, so I am really really dense.  What is the rationale behind such a rule, and
where is it acceptable for the mothers, not to mention the staff, to drink
water?  
I am trying my hardest to come up with how this would protect anyone from
anything - is it concern for the NICU being contaminated by someone's drinking
vessel, or for the person drinking the water getting infected with something in
the NICU?
How can they even carry out basic patient care in a place where no one can drink
WATER?
Couldn't the mothers just be designated part of the food supply, and their
drinking water be considered part of the preparation of the baby's food?  Or
would that just cause the tissue bank registry to short-circuit permanently?
I have never heard of anything like this and I am astounded.  Can not fathom who
could come up with such an idea!
