Nancy: I posed your question to an immunologist and got this reponse:

"I think she is in an extremely low risk situation and should not stop
breastfeeding. It should only take 24 hours or less to test the
patient's blood for bacterial infectious agents so why the 6 month wait?
Unless her cuts are actually open and bleeding, viral entry is not
likely. Six months would be required only if viral entry were likely. My
BIG question is why she was not wearing gloves as I am sure Canada has
strict rules about that!!!"

Nancy, you may want to use this information to go to an immunologist in
your facility, show her or him your hands, and ask if your dermatitis is
deep enough, severe enough, and bleeding at a rate which would make
viral entry likely.
