Is the milk being held in a freezer or in a freezer compartment
(freezers are more consistently cold)? What is the appliance's internal
temperature? Is it warmer than 0F or -18C? How does the milk look when
not frozen--slushy or liquid? Is any part frozen? What is the total
container volume? What type of container is it? Is the milk cooled
before being put in the freezer? Does it eventually freeze? If so, after
how long? Is the container touching or nearly touching the wall, if the
unit is "frost-free"? Is it on the swing out door, particularly in a
freezer compartment?

We likely will not be able to find out, but it seems as important to
know these external variables as it does to know milk composition.

Arly Helm, MS, IBCLC
