Not sure if this got solved already, but I was thinking it's a gut 
issue:  C. diff.   -OR-   Yeast.  Either way, treating with high 
potency lactobacillus would do the trick.  Add to a little expressed 
milk.

The mother could also eliminate cow's milk from her diet and see if 
that is the problem.
