I rent out Ameda pumps, and I rent them from Hollister. I like to rent,
because occasionally a switch goes bad or the clip that holds the cord
compartment door on snaps off, and I like to be able to send them back
for fixing. I've learned to replace "t-tubes" myself (the part the kit
plugs into, sometimes moms snap them) and cord compartment doors are a
snap to replace, literally. Hollister is happy to send those parts to
rental depots for free.
That said, I've had lact-e's for 10 years or more, and they still work
as well as they did when brand new.
The lighter weight pumps (elite) are easier to break.
