Lara, I like the information in THE BREASTFEEDING ANSWER BOOK regarding
various models of pumps, how they cycle, etc. You can purchase this book
from La Leche League's web site or their catalog. Also LLLI has a handout on
pumps but isn't specific enough and there may be articles from LEAVEN on the
web site that address pumps. Keep reminding women that breastpumps are not
supposed to hurt. They are supposed to be comfortable. I compare pumps to
cars, with the rental or hospital quality pumps being big SUVs. And the
cheap drugstore pumps being a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle! Don't let these ladies
get you down, the ethical thing is to tell them the truth even if it isn't
popular. Some people will just argue just to argue, especially on chat
lists. Best, Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC
