We, also, have problems with the nursery and Mother/Baby staff using pacifiers during circumcisions. We tell them that they can put
a glove on, dip their finger in the sucrose, and let the baby suck on that..... Or better yet, have the mom or dad do that if they are
watching. We have absolutely not been sucessful at getting the MD's to agree to not use the sucrose.
As for the hearing screens, I realize that there are numerous types of machines used. We use Clarity. Both the rep and a speaker
we had from the University of Nebraska Audiology Dept told us that if a baby sucks during the hearing screen the results are not
accurate.
