I just feel sorry for the culture.. AAP trying to make society happy.
Some day we will have Robot Mommy, she will do everything for the baby.

self soothing and putting babies down awake, not letting them breastfeed to

It seems to me that if pacifier use and sucking is a SIDS preventative, my 
children who have slept attached at a natural nipple must be equally 
protected. As my #7 has recently joined us, and is quite sure she must sleep with my 
nipple at the very least near her, if not attached, and is where all children 
before have always slept, by my side, I don't feel the need to purchase a 
latex or silicone replacement.
